Police from Naihati Police Station in North 24 Parganas arrested Abhijit Chatterjee, General Secretary of the Naihati Town Youth Trinamool Congress and son of Naihati Municipality Chairman Ashok Chatterjee. Following his arrest, he was produced before the Barrackpore Court under security arrangements. Police said the accused is facing multiple criminal cases.
According to police sources, Abhijit Chatterjee had been under investigation in connection with several complaints and criminal allegations. Authorities stated that the arrest was carried out following the receipt of multiple complaints and the collection of evidence during the course of the investigation.
Local residents alleged that Abhijit Chatterjee had been involved in various anti-social activities and often used his father's political position and influence to avoid action. Police conducted the operation and took him into custody before presenting him before the court. Further legal proceedings in the matter are continuing.
